One of the strongest impressions after our first visit at the cemetery was: “This is a dream-like place for taking pictures!” Since then, each visit has produced a rich photographic crop. At the very begining, we were simply looking for “beautiful” places. Later on, we looked out for places of special interest – either because of their location, their look or some interesting inscription. Repeated acts of vandalism and theft, as well as clean-up campaigns, resulted in a series of pictures “before” and “after”. Finally, when the idea of cataloguing the cemetery arose (which later resulted in this website) our visits assumed a more systematic character.
However, we still love to take ‘artistic’ pictures. Pictures that reflect the beauty and the exceptionality of this place. Or pictures that do not merely focus on gravestones but rather on an entire scenery, during different seasons or weather conditions. We also focus on local flora and fauna, and on unusual details of cemetery art.
This gallery represents only a small selection from several thousands of pictures. We do hope that you will like these photographs and maybe they will inspire you to visit this place.
